10 Websites That Will Matter in 2009

PC World recently published a kewl list of the 10 Web Sites That Will Matter in 2009. Some of them are completely useless to me, but one really stands out.

Loopt is a service that allows users to upload their position, find their closest friends, and find a place to meet up/ something to do in the vicinity.

They refer to this as "social compass" functionality. Much like Twitter users can send updates via their phones, post geo-located photos, see their friends' locations and updates, let their friends see their location (or not ;) What I really love is that users can also look up recommendations for things to do and places to see close to their current location, based on comments and updates from their friends.
