Social Media @ Starbucks

Starbucks launched a site called My Starbucks Idea which serves as a message board for Starbucks afficionados everywhere to post their beverage-related fantasies. And Starbucks, being the mothership moderator, can freely lift those ideas off its site and implement them in all its stores, throughout the world.

The best part? No credit to the person who gave the idea, other than on the board itself. What a great way to glean marketing, promotional and product ideas from its audience without having to a) deal with them in person as was formerly required via focus groups, and b) spend tons of cash, since pretty much anyone can post a moderated message board now-a-days.

Brilliant use of social media and p2p marketing.
