Solar power for Grand Canyon Visitor Centre

Artist's renderingSolar power rocks. Educating people about solar power rocks more. So I love the new installation coming to the Grand Canyon Visitor centre.

The Arizona Power Supply has announced that 84 solar panels will be installed at Canyon View Information Plaza to generate a portion of its energy. Generating 18 kilowatts of electricity should be enough to offset about 30% of the Plaza's current energy requirements.

Information about the panels will also be available at an exhibit inside the centre. With 4.5 million people visiting the canyon annually, they are hoping that the message of solar power use will spread widely.

For more info, and to see artist's renderings of the installation (such as the one presented here), check out the Arizona Power Supply.
