Weird public art

Maman sculpture by Louise BourgeoisThere's a beautiful and slightly creepy sculpture in downtown Ottawa of a giant female spider including her egg sac, complete with giants eggs. It's in front of the National Art Gallery, surrounded by benches and sitting areas and was created by artist Louise Bourgeois.

Keeping with the theme of garish and oddly beautiful art, the blog Dark Roast Blend has a photo essay of public art pieces from around the world. A wonderful 10 minute coffee break kind of post...
