June 30: Happy Social Media Day to you! (video)

If you haven't already heard, today is Social Media Day! Mashable defines it as "a global event that celebrates the technological advancements that enable everyone to connect with real-time information, communicate from miles apart and have their voices be heard. Mashable invites readers to connect with fellow web enthusiasts by hosting a local Social Media Day Meetup. There’s no better way to celebrate the revolution of media becoming a social dialogue than by socializing with the online community offline."

So what I read was: an excuse to tweet in a bar. Cause there are so. few. of. those. ;)

It looks like there are a ton more events going on this year. Personally, I totally wish I was in San Francisco - their event is going to be at an indoor trampoline park! How kewl is that?!

Find out more!
If you can't make it to an event, you can still be involved by following #SMDay on Twitter. I"ll be on the Twitter, so be sure to say Hi! :)

Finally, here's a little welcome message from Pete Cashmore, founder of Mashable:
