What's a BOLO?Last year, I wrote about BOLO, a really fun gathering of local bloggers. BOLO (which stands for Blog Out Loud Ottawa) is essentially a poetry reading for bloggers. A hilarious, moving, sometimes profanity-laced opportunity to rub elbows with the folks who populate your RSS reader. (But gently, my arm is still gimpy from my snowboarding accident ;)
Our gracious host, Lynn, brilliantly came up with the idea to balance reading and networking all evening long: the agenda is structured so that 3 bloggers read, attendees mingle for 20 minutes, 3 more bloggers read, more mingling, and so forth all night long. It makes for a laid-back socially-focused event, and you really get to take in each and every reader's performance.
Who's reading? This year's roster includes some of the same folks as last year, as well as a whole bunch of new voices. I am personally looking forward to hearing Nat, Annie, Claire, Scott (yes! a boy!)... ok, I'm looking forward to hearing everyone.
I'm honoured to have been chosen once again to read. Lynn wrote me a lovely profile on the BOLO site. My head is just getting back to its normal size :)
Now, I'm not a shy person — in fact I sang in choirs for years — so the idea of getting on stage doesn't completely terrify me (although I will get some serious butterflies right before heading on-stage). I do prefer working behind the scenes, so with any luck I'll be able to get some 3G reception down in the pub and will be live-tweeting the event. If not, I'll definitely be recapping the event here on my blog.

Interview Wednesday at 5:00pm on CHUOAnd if you're by a radio Wednesday at 5:00pm, me and Jes Lacasse will be interviewed on CHUO about BOLO, trying to convince our interviewer that no, bloggers aren't antisocial hermits who live in their basements. (I think he's got us confused with gamers - LOL ;)
So, have I convinced you to come out for a few pints and some great readers?
