Kewl App Alert: Snowed in? Alarm Clock App Will Wake You Earlier (or Not At All)

What if your alarm clock was smart enough to know if you need more time in the morning to clear your car after a winter storm? Or maybe decide for you that it's just too damned ugly outside to even attempt to head into the office?

Well Boondoggle Agency (who apparently live in a world where it's still ok to have Flash websites that require you to sit and wait while they load - ugh) came up with an app that does just that. According to said Flash-based site:
"During the night, the Winter Wake Up app collects weather information for where you are. Based on this, the app decides whether it’s necessary to wake you up earlier. How much earlier is something you decide for yourself."
Apparently they built this for their own employees. Who they trust to make up time on the weekend if the situation becomes too hopeless. Yep, apparently you can configure the app to not wake you at all if the weather and resulting driving conditions suck so much you can't even be bothered to try to go into work. And then it will wake you up earlier on the weekend so you can get caught up.

Is it just me or has Boondoggle never heard of telecommuting in inclement weather, or do they assume that the Interwebz will be down too? At which point, um, wouldn't the app fail too? Maybe I'm over-thinking this. (Just kidding, yes I can tell that feature is totally tongue-in-cheek ;) If you don't believe me, check out the video below.

Regardless, it's a kewl app and if you want to give it a try, it's actually available for both iThings via iTunes and Android devices via the Market.
