Rainy Day Science: Extract Your Own DNA (video)

This experiment will let you see your DNA. SEE IT. Yes, the stuff inside you that determined your hair colour, eye colour, health, height... and let's face it, that is just. too. kewl.

Now before you think that you're going to be able to take this and figure out whether you have any genetic markers for life-threatening diseases, remember that this is kitchen sink science. You'd need crazy expensive equipment to do all that. But  few years ago, you would have needed crazy expensive equipment to do this too, so let's talk again in a few years.

I can't wait to do this with the Dude. Something tells me that since a girl did it for her science fair project and now it is so easy to find on the Interwebs, this will become the ubiquitous nail-dissolving-in-Coke of school science fair experiments for a time to come. Way to go, kids!
