UX Geeks Unite! UXCamp weekend is upon us!

So if you're looking for me this weekend, I'll be running around like a crazy person at the awesomeness that will be UXCamp Ottawa. We've sold out for our biggest and baddest event yet, with over 350 people participating in the conference and design jam, over 2 days.

UXCamp is a labour of love by a very small team, so it's incredible when we finally make it to the big weekend and experience the event alongside the attendees.

A new format for year 3

We've got some of the best speakers in usability, information architecture and design from across North America (including some down-home Canadian talent). This year we decided to shake things up: we managed to score so much unbelievable talent that we decided to go without the unconference portion of the event, to provide attendees with the ability to experience a single stream of presentations. Having to choose between multiple streams would have been near impossible this year, and we didn't think anyone should have to agonize between all the great talks.

But just in case you were worried that it was all talking heads, we added a whole second day that will be all about the attendees. The Design Jam will give participants the opportunity to form teams and work together to solve a real-world design problem. And the best part is that the client will present the issue and be on-site all day through the jam. Teams will be developing solutions and presenting them at the end of the day, and competing for great prizes. I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Learning and fun? Yup, it's going to be a giant geekfest.

How you can participate

  • If you managed to score a ticket, I expect you to come over and say, "Hi". (I'll be the hyper chick with long brown hair and bangs, sporting a red and black UXCamp shirt.)
  • If you didn't manage to get a ticket in time but wanted to come, send me an email and we'll see if there is anything we can do.
  • If you couldn't make it but want to follow along, the hashtag will be #uxott. I'll be live-tweeting from the @UXCampOttawa account all day long on Saturday (in between running around for logistics).

Hope to see you this weekend!
