Join me Jan. 29 for IABC's Networking in the New Year

Next Wednesday, January 29th, I'll be participating in a funky networking/ learning event run by the Ottawa Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators, called Networking in the New Year. If you're a communicator in the Ottawa area, this might be of interest.

The event is essentially a group speed-networking set-up in which groups move between tables hosted by subject matter representatives, and discuss specific topics of interest. In my case, I'll be representing my day job so you can come and chat with me about the use of social media in the government. Here's a little taste of what we'll be exploring:
Social media use in the government poses some special challenges unseen in other industries: Its use is both mandated and governed through policies that seek to balance the rights and needs of citizens, with the government's goals to inform, engage and deliver services.
Also leading discussions will be Jim Cain of Napkyn and Bruce Spurr of, among others. I was intrigued by the format (and of course, it's a great excuse to hang out with a buzzing community). If you're interested, find out more and register at IABC Ottawa.

See you on the 29th!
