Homemade Lego Advent Calendar 2014: Day 13

The story behind the Homemade Lego Advent Calendar: We opted not to buy the Dude a Lego Advent Calendar for the past couple of years. The Dude was quite amenable, countering with: "Ok, then you have to build me something every day until Christmas." Challenge  accepted! This is the series of daily posts, cataloguing my builds.

I'm a little bit (ok, a lot) excited about today's build. See, the Dude and I are going to see Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 this afternoon. So, I built this:

Lego MockingJay

Just in case you don't recognize it, here's the MockingJay Logo:

I loosely based the design on this one I found on Moc Pages. Although the builder was kind enough to show both the front and the back, I opted for quite a different build since I had some large base pieces that looked like wings. I'm completely thrilled with the outcome, and happy to report that it was one of the shortest builds to date: about an hour.

(Aside: For those of you considering making your own Lego Advent Calendar, a PSA: I spend anywhere from 1-2 hours researching and building each night over the month of December. Which is why my evenings consist of Lego and wine. :)

This has officially become my favourite build. How about you?

See you tomorrow!

Next build - Day 14
Previous build - Day 12
