Homemade Lego Advent Calendar 2015: Day 20 - Terminator T-1000

The story behind the Homemade Lego Advent Calendar: We opted not to buy the Dude a Lego Advent Calendar for the past few years. The Dude was quite amenable, countering with: "Ok, then you have to build me something every day until Christmas." Challenge accepted! This is the series of daily posts, cataloguing my builds.

So, on Day 14, I built a Mech Drone which I rather like. It's tall and skinny and I envisioned it to be one of those towers-over-you robots that would be rather terrifying in a sci-fi movie. The Dude, however, was unimpressed. He felt that it was too frail-looking to be scary. So it got a "meh" on the Advent Calendar scale of "blah to awesome". Not as bad as "blah" but nowhere near "awesome".

Since then, I've wanted to do a Terminator build and decided to try this one I found on Flickr. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, especially considering the dwindling supply of small pieces this far along in the calendar:

This build comes in around 3 inches high, although the photos make it look much bigger. I love the Cube Dude style, since the come out looking like bobbleheads. Granted that makes them a little top-heavy and prone to toppling over. Others can be a lot more stable like this Super Meat Boy one I did last year. Either way, I think they have a really unexpected look and are a lot of fun to build.

See you tomorrow!
