Homemade Lego Advent Calendar 2015: Day 8 - Parliament of Owls

The story behind the Homemade Lego Advent Calendar: We opted not to buy the Dude a Lego Advent Calendar for the past few years. The Dude was quite amenable, countering with: "Ok, then you have to build me something every day until Christmas." Challenge accepted! This is the series of daily posts, cataloguing my builds.

This build features a cameo by one of last year's Advent Calendar builds. Sharp-eyed folks might remember Blueberry the Itty Bitty Teeny Tiny Owl from last year. Well, I happened to find her intact in the Lego bin on my first day of building this year, and tucked her away out of sight until I could build her a parliament of friends.

You might also recognize the small white owl from the Harry Potter Lego sets. The Dude was gifted those as hand-me-downs (as if Lego can ever really be hand-me-down) from a friend, and I thought it would be the perfect addition to the group.

Finally, the original piece in this build is the white owl, which is based off this instructables guide.

If you can imagine, the Harry Potter owl is just an inch high. These are pretty small builds! Blueberry (the brown one) is static, but the wings of the white owl are articulated (as is visible when comparing the two photos).

Definitely a cute build since these pieces are so small. I especially can't wait to see if the Dude remembers Blueberry from last year. :)

See you tomorrow!

Next build - Day 9 - Tulip
