Homemade Lego Advent Calendar 2015: Day 5 - Nutcracker

The story behind the Homemade Lego Advent Calendar: We opted not to buy the Dude a Lego Advent Calendar for the past few years. The Dude was quite amenable, countering with: "Ok, then you have to build me something every day until Christmas." Challenge accepted! This is the series of daily posts, cataloguing my builds.

I absolutely love today's build. My favourite builds are the ones that have movement and do something, like that time I built the Lego crossbow, or the Rubik's Cube solving robot or even the flapping wings on this week's butterfly (which has since been rebranded by the Dude as the "butterfly drone" :)

This build is a very close approximation to a Mini Lego Nutcracker guide on Instructables. Naturally, I couldn't locate all the exact pieces and had to improvise but I absolutely love the result.

Now it's guaranteed not to survive cracking any real nuts, but it's adorkable, regardless.

See you tomorrow!
