I have met designers and consultants who facilitated workshops but who weren't actually spending much time designing and testing them like other services and products. I believe that this is a critical step for participant engagement and, more importantly, successful workshop outcomes.
Throughout my career, I have developed a workshop design method to design any workshop for any purpose targeting any outcome with any audience.
Bold statement, spydey.
You betcha.
And it's true.
My coaching approach applies user experience design methods to workshop development.
You might be wondering: What are my workshop design chops?
- I have been designing workshops for over 15 years, since my Big Consulting days.
- In that time, I have designed and run dozens of workshops for groups as small as 5 to over 120.
- Every workshop I have ever run has been a bespoke design, using this methodology.
- I have helped clients design and deliver workshops in both the public and private sector.
- My workshops get results and move work forward.
- And people have fun.
Workshop coaching consists of three or more 1-hour working sessions in which we will:
- Define the purpose of your workshop and the desired outcomes
- Examine your participants and stakeholders
- Select the appropriate type of workshop and activities
- Design those activities (a much-forgotten step!)
- Test the workshop and plan for disasters
If you have a workshop in mind, I can take you through the process to create or refine your workshop concept. If you have never run a workshop before, I can teach you the process from scratch and help you build a hypothetical workshop; then you can take what you learned and adapt it to suit the needs of your organization.
If you're ready to get started, let's chat! I offer free consultations to talk about your needs and how I can help you.
[If coaching doesn't interest you or your organization, I also offer custom workshop design and facilitation - both in person and remote.]
